总结:Over the last century, theologians like Lambert Beauduin (1873-1960), Yves Congar (1904-1995) en Clément Lialine (1901-1958) have been pioneering to create a dialogue between the Roman Catholic Church and the other churches. The ecumenical turn that came about in the Second Vatican Council was therefore the fruit of their efforts. Yet, the ecumenical turn is intrinsically linked to the ecclesiological shifts with which these pioneers renounced the model of the church as societas perfecta. This reorientation made the church aware that it should not only defend the truth, but should also seek for the truth among the people. This dimension of the church, however, remained largely neglected within the implementation of the Council. In the late 1960s, the debate on the implementation of the ecclesiology of Vatican ii escalated quickly over the issue of church and democracy. As a result, the ecclesiology of ecumenical pioneers did not reach its full potential, comprising both dialogue between the churches and dialogue within the church. It is now up to a new generation of theologians to realize this dialogue within the church as synodal pioneers.
