| Sumario: | In the Book of Proverbs 8, «Lady Wisdom», who comes from God, speaks to all humankind. Of what «wisdom» does the Book of Wisdom, a later book written in Greek, speak? Even though Stoic influences are undeniable, the insistence on the bond between Wisdom and Spirit (Wis. 1, 6) suggests that the Wisdom is revealed above all as a sign of the presence of the transcendent God within his creation. Solomon asks for wisdom (Wis 9), whose personification bears the traits of the goddess Isis, the «guide» of humankind. This is a form of inculturation of the wisdom of the God of Israel ; it becomes a universal value, which confirms the Sapiential rereading of the salvation history in Wis. 10. |
