Dazu zählen die Angst vor Ansteckung und vor dem Anderen generell, die eine Epistemologie der Grenzziehung beflügelt hat; die dichotome Gegenüberstellung westlicher fortschrittlicher Medizin und primitiver traditioneller Heilkunde; die Hypervisibilisierung des Körpers des Anderen, der auch heute noch in Gestalt des Flüchtlings in seiner schonungslosen Vulnerabilität gezeigt wird, während die Verletzlichkeit von Europäern versteckt wird; und schließlich der unbeirrbare Glaube, dass die Zukunft des globalen Südens davon abhängt, ob dieser - die Entwicklung „aufholend“ - in der Gegenwart des von technischem Fortschritt bestimmten Nordens ankommt. Der Beitrag unterzieht diese anhaltenden Dynamiken einer kritisch-postkolonialen Relektüre und erinnert mit dem Konzept von „Heil und Heilung“ an Ansätze der kirchlichen Entwicklungskooperation und Sozialethik, die das Potential haben, dem Egozentrismus und der neoliberalen Wirtschaftspolitik Alternativen entgegenzustellen, die die Vulnerabilität und Zukunft der einen Welt als gemeinsame Verantwortung von globalem Süden und Norden verstehen. | ||
| 520 | |a The 2020 Corona ”crisis“ has mobilized practices that have a long tradition in development cooperation and health care in colonial and post-colonial contexts. These include fear of contagion and fear of the Other in general, which has inspired an epistemology of border demarcation; a dichotomy of Western advanced medicine and “primitive” traditional healing; a hypervisibilisation of the body of the Other, which still appears today in the shape of refugees in their stark vulnerability, while the vulnerability of Europeans is hidden; and fnally, the unwavering belief that the future of the global South depends on its arrival - “catching up” with development - in the present of the North, determined by technological progress. This essay subjects these ongoing dynamics to a critical post-colonial re-reading. Referring to the concept of “salvation and healing”, it is reminiscent of approaches of church development cooperation and social ethics, which have the potential to oppose egocentrism and neo-liberal economic policy with alternatives that understand the vulnerability and future of one world as a common responsibility of global South and North. | ||
