Die Kopenhagener Polio-Epidemie 1952 zeigt, wie eine unausweichlich bevorstehende Triage-Lage durch eine medizinische Innovation abgewendet wurde.

Historically, it can been shown that coping with epidemics can be summed up by the pair of terms "helplessness and lack of resources". Since the early modern era, confidence in action has grown; the lack of resources, in terms of specific remedies, became effective in the scientific era. The Copenhagen polio epidemic of 1952 shows how an inevitable triage situation was averted by a medical innovation.
