Yazīd al-Fazārī (second half of the second/eighth century) in detail on the basis of recently discovered treatises by him. In his argumentation against the teaching of the Muʿtazila he proves to have been a major contributor to the development of Islamic kalām theology concerning predestination and the attributes (ṣifāt) of God. The teaching of ʿĪsā b. ʿUmayr al-Hamdānī, founder of a rival Ibāḍī sect in the eastern Maghrib, is also described. | ||
