This affects not only ecclesial self-identity, but also the identity of church ministers, and it results in general insecurity. A not uncommon result of this uncertainty is that the development of baptismal charisms, and thus also the common sending of all the baptized by Christ, continue to be set against a clericalisation of ecclesial ministry. What does the Council teach about the relationship between the common and the hierarchical priesthood, and how might the statements of the Council be transformed into a stringent and coherent theology of ministry? | ||
