On closer examination however it becomes clear that the Quaestiones are a wide-ranging defence of Thomas Aquinas and are directed against many different scholars who seem to be in opposition to Aquinas. This examination corroborates doubts on the theory that Sutton is the author of the Liber propugnatorius and suggests that the Quaestiones in Sententias are a valuable witness to Sutton's debate on Duns Scotus' doctrine. These findings are illustrated by a partial edition of two questions from Sutton's Quaestiones in Sententias and the corresponding passages in Cowton's Sentences Commentary. | ||
