Summary: | The rebirth of natural theology in contemporary thought is mostly connected with certain theoretical developments within the analytical philosophy of religion. These developments constitute a deepening of the analytical metaphysics itself, in the direction of the search for the first causes and the theistic foundations of reality. The problem of God is dealt with in a particularly penetrating way in the context of the so-called "analytical Thomism". The rebirth of natural theology has taken on different forms, although in various ways connected with each other, through significant reformulations of the main theistic arguments. These philosophical approaches are particularly important in the context of the analytical debate about ontological naturalism, in the light of the necessary incompatibility of theism with this form of naturalism. |
