Cette adaptation, en particulier dans la partie orientale de l’Empire, se traduit par un renforcement accru de la puissance défensive, notamment avec la multiplication d’ouvrages de flanquement aux formes et dimensions variées coexistant sur une même muraille. L’une des principales caractéristiques en est la mise en place d’une alternance entre tours et bastions. La présente étude développe cet aspect particulier et tente d’en retrouver les origines, principalement issues de traditions orientales. | ||
| 520 | |a The Byzantine fortifications of the 5th and 6th centuries ad, although marked by a return to a defensive tradition dating back to the 4th c. bc, have adapted to the new developments of poliorcetics, both new constructions or reconstructions. This adaptation, especially in the eastern part of the Empire, is reflected in an increase in defensive power, in particular with the multiplication of flanking structures of varying shapes and dimensions coexisting on the same wall. One of the main characteristics is the setting up of an alternation between towers and bastions. The present study focuses on this particular aspect and tries to trace its origins, mainly from Eastern traditions. | ||
| 520 | |a من المؤكد أن التحصينات البيزنطية التي تعود إلى القرن الخامس والسادس الميلادي تميزت بدفاعاتها ذات التقاليد التي تعود للقرن الرابع قبل الميلاد ، إلا أن التحصينات التي أنشأت في هذه الفترة أو تلك التي تم إعادة بنائها ، تميزت بمواكبتها للتطورات الجديدة في فن الحصار والدفاع عن المدن . ترجمت هذه المواكبة ، على نحو خاص في القسم الشرقي من الإمبراطورية البيزنطية ، بزيادة و تدعيم القوة الدفاعية للتحصينات ، وخاصة مع مضاعفة عدد الدفاعات المتقدمة والتي أخذت أشكال وأحجام مختلفة شيدت في نفس الجدار الدفاعي . ومن أهم الخصائص الرئيسية لهذه التحصينات الاعتماد على التناوب بين نوعين من الأبراج المفرغة و المصمتة . تحاول الدراسة الحالية التعمق في هذا الجانب الخاص وتسعى إلى البحث عن أصوله المتأتية أساسا عن التقاليد الشرقية. | ||
