AB It is always a challenge to deal with some of the more difficult texts in the Bible, such as the text about Jephthah’s vow to sacrifice his daughter. Absent a full narration of this decision, one might seek to remove some of the difficulties of this text, but in a close reading, Jephthah is exposed as cruel, and his daughter as the much nobler character.
