In solch einer Situation konzentriert sich politische Macht ganz in den Händen der Regierung, die diese Macht benötigt, um die Bürgerinnen und Bürger durch schnelles und effektives Handeln zu schützen. Solche eine Machtkonzentration birgt aber für jede Demokratie eine erhebliche Gefahr und sollte daher nicht länger als unbedingt notwendig aufrechterhalten werden. 
520 |a The essay discusses the moral reasons for the current state of exception due to the COVID-19 pandemic, which also has strong impact on the practice of spiritual care. It argues that the state of exception in society primarily aims at avoiding a state of exception in emergency medicine. In this situation political power is centralized in the hands of the government, as it needs this power to act quickly in order to protect the citizens. This concentration of political power is a high risk for any democracy and should therefore not be upheld any longer than necessary.
