AB L’itinéraire d’André Neher (1914-1988) est marqué par la brisure perpétrée par le nazisme. Dès lors s’impose à lui l’impératif absolu de reconstruire un judaïsme présent à son temps. Il le fait en conjuguant : l’exigence prophétique et la nécessité d’affronter le silence de Dieu ; un humanisme en tension entre mystique et raison ; le motif de la « montée » vers Jérusalem, avec la volonté de participer à la construction de l’État d’Israël, auquel il confère une dimension messianique.
AB The itinerary of André Neher (1914-1988) is marked by the fracture operated by Nazism. Since then, the absolute necessity of rebuilding a Judaism present to its time has been vital to him. He does so by combining: the prophetic exigence and the necessity of challenging God’s silence; a humanism in tension between mysticism and reason; the motive of the “rise” to Jerusalem, with the will to take part in the construction of the State of Israel, to which he confers a messianic dimension.
