The Via Sacra, if actually existed, could have played a very important role in the religious life of Palmyra. Ergebnisse kürzlich vorgenommener Feldforschungen in Palmyra werfen die Frage nach der Existenz einer heiligen Straße (Via Sacra) innerhalb der Stadt auf. Ihre vermutete Lage ist engstens verbunden mit den Tempeln und Heiligtümern der Stadt und ihren besonderen Funktionen.
