Lazarus Saturday occupied a significant place within the liturgical year in ancient Jerusalem, signaling the end of Lent and the beginning of Holy Week. Building on several previous studies concerning the structural development of the Lazarus Saturday rites, this work offers a consideration of the broader themes and beliefs celebrated in these liturgies. It concludes by noting that Lazarus Saturday served as an encapsulation of the community’s Paschal celebration of salvation through Christ and a thematic hinge that connected the events of Holy Week to the lives of worshippers. 
520 |a Cet article examine la célébration du Samedi de Lazare dans la pratique liturgique hagiopolite entre la fin du quatrième et le début du dixième siècle. Le Samedi de Lazare occupait une place importante dans l’année liturgique de l’ancienne Jérusalem, marquant la fin du Carême et le début de la Semaine sainte. S’appuyant sur plusieurs études antérieures concernant le développement structurel des rites du Samedi de Lazare, cet article propose une réflexion sur les thèmes et les croyances plus larges célébrés dans ces liturgies. Il conclut en notant que le Samedi de Lazare a servi d’encapsulation à la célébration pascale du salut par le Christ de la communauté et de charnière thématique qui reliait les événements de la Semaine sainte à la vie des fidèles.
