| Sumario: | This paper was originally given as a lecture at the annual meeting of the NACCC, and offers a practical reflection on the rich heritage of the congregational way. Although the best known tenet of congregationalism may be the autonomy and completeness of the local church, this is rooted in the voluntary covenant that binds a church together. This is linked with two other ecclesial treasures of our heritage: faith and service. Matthew 6.21 "Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also", the becomes a promise, as "Our hearts are rooted deep in this rich, Congregational heritage," from which our treasure springs. |
