Summary: | Money has been part of the history of mankind, both impacting it and being impacted by it. In contemporary societies the process of dematerializing money seems to dissolve it into the anonymous neutrality of computer technology, thus obscuring that it is a social reality. And yet, any form of money is based on social elements such as the confidence that it will be accepted, a social network within which it circulates, and the expectations and preferences that allow choosing one currency instead of another. Precisely because it is a social reality, it is always possible to reinvent a political, moral, or educational discourse on a more responsible use of money. (English) |
