Schröter), all promising to give orientation for the entirety of theological subjects and church practice (I.). In combination with theories of memory (as proposed by J. Assmann), especially the earthly Jesus seems to be influential today but, in view of the problems of posttruth (English word of the year 2016), to which prominent theories of memory do not offer any effective remedy, also in need of correction (II.). Finally the essay reconstructs the concept of an earthly Jesus as developed by Hans-Georg Geyer (1929-1999) of Göttingen, offering the task of theological commemoration over against theories of (collective) memory (III.). | ||
