Summary: | A biographical account of the much-maligned heavy-metal icon, Ozzy Osbourne, and a comparison with the demonisation of occultist, Aleister Crowley, will shed light upon the evolution of the state and stance of the Christian Right in terms of the "Satanism Scare" of the 1980s and 90s. Both figures have at one time or another falsely been branded Satanists, yet have come to be recognised as leaders in their respective fields and openly praised by people of power and influence in North American society today. The meaning of this societal shift will be examined throughout the paper. |
