En général, le comportement de Méthode confirme, avant tout, son appartenance à la délégation byzantine qui était fermement en faveur de l'union des deux Églises. Malgré cela, à son retour à Constantinople, il revenait sur sa signature avec la même aisance avec laquelle il l'avait mise sur le document du Décret Florentin. Il semble que de nouvelles circonstances l'aient incité à changer de camp. | ||
