AB Of the two tractates copied by the first scribal hand of Codex XI, only this first tractate bears a title, "The Interpretation ... of Knowledge ..."; the full title appears at the end of the tractate (21,35) but is only partially preserved on the back of the front flyleaf. Owing to the fragmentary condition of the first page, one cannot tell whether or not the partially preserved title reflected the incipit. The phrase does not recur anywhere else in the extant text. One may surmise that the title denotes the intention of the tractate, namely, to interpret what the Savior's teachings and his passion mean for the life of the church (as the body of Christ), specifically, for the relationship between its members
