Description
Summary:The article deals with the impressive work of Gerhard Ebeling on Luther. Ebeling was successful showing the theological impact of church history in the time of the theology of the Word of God. With this, he dealt with contextual questions of the work of Luther, mainly the Late medieval roots of the reformers theology. Nevertheless, Ebeling did his interpretation in a frame of somehow atemporal thinking, losing in this the concrete biography of Martin Luther. The more he stressed the overwhelming relevance of Luther’s theology for our times, he lost the conditions of the development and articulation of this doctrine.
