| Итог: | In Galatians, righteousness and justification before God are ultimately future, eschatological realities (as a coming declaration of “not guilty”) rather than present existential or ontological realities. Righteousness and justification will be experienced by those who are made children of God (υἱοθεσία) by being “in Christ” and who thus share in Jesus’s Spirit and heirship to the promises made to Abraham. Righteousness comes about through the work of the Spirit because only the Spirit (and not the law which is associated with the flesh) produces the “fruits” by which one might be declared righteous, and this Spirit is received through faith rather than through obedience to the law. This experience of the reception ofthe Spirit is one that Paul asks his readers to recall as a validation of the truth of his message and of his argument. Identity as God’s children, faith, the Spirit, justification, and ethics are inextricably interwoven in Paul’s theology and in the lifeof the believer. |
