The reform process desired by Pope Francis is inspired not only by the need to respond to the requirements of the good administration, but also by the desire to harmonize the necessity of internal transparency on the one hand, and the consistency with international parameters in the economic-financial field, on the other hand. The theme of transparency has played, and still plays, an important role also within the Italian Episcopal Conference. Yet, in this respect, there is still a long way to go. Meanwhile, some dioceses have started to publish annual reports on their websites, in a more or less complete way. Great efforts have been made especially to achieve maximum transparency in the management of the "8 per mille" contribution, reinforcing the stringent lines adopted so far. In today's society, the issue of transparency, supervision of economic affairs and financial information have become fundamental in order to contain any deviances of economic power that could compromise the stability of the States and of the institutions in general and encourage the illegal use of money by feeding organized and ever more globalized crime. The collaboration between the Church and the political community on these issues has therefore become fundamental for the pursuit of the common good, and more generally for the humanity's good. | ||
