| Summary: | Il y a un peu plus de 200 ans fut découvert à Vaison-la-Romaine (département de Vaucluse, France, ancienne province romaine de Gaule narbonnaise) un autel avec une inscription bilingue grecque et latine, offert par un certain Sextus au dieu Bel d’Apamée de Syrie, dont il avait consulté l’oracle. L’interprétation de ces textes, à la formulation originale, a fait l’objet d’avis parfois très divergents de la part des chercheurs, qui ne se sont pas toujours intéressés au document dans sa globalité. L’article propose donc un réexamen aussi général que possible de la démarche et de l’identité de Sextus, l’humble dévot du puissant Bel. Two hundred years ago, a bilingual inscription (Greek/Latin) carved on an altar was discovered in Vaison-la-Romaine (France, Vaucluse, former province of Gallia Narbonensis). After he had consulted the oracle, a certain Sextus offered the monument to Bel of Syrian Apamea. The meaning of the text has been greatly discussed due to its unique formulation. Our study offers a more global approach to enlighten the identity of Sextus, worshiper of Bel, and the meaning of the inscriptions. اكتشف منذ ما يزيد عن مئتي سنة في فيزون-لا-رومان)(Vaison-la-Romaine) قضاء الفوكلوز، فرنسا، المقاطعة الرومانية“ نربونيز ”سابقاً ( مذبحٌ مع كتابة ثنائية يونانية ولاتينية قدّمها “سكستوس (Sextus)” إلى إله أفاميا في سوريا (بل) ، بعد استشارة وسيط الوحي فيه . يختلف تفسير الباحثين لهذه النصوص ذات الصيغة المبتكرة. وكان اهتمامهم بهذه النصوص محدوداً. هدف هذه المقالة إعادة نظر أعم بقدر الإمكان في منهجية وفي هوية سكستوس، المُحب المتواضع للإله القدير (بل). |
