Description
Summary:While in the theology of the ancient Church the idea that God is beautiful was the object of some kind of consensus, Protestant dogmatics usually would not contain a chapter about God's beauty. The paper examines why this is the case. It brings Christian thinking about God's beauty in dialogue with current aesthetic observations about beauty, with the emphasis on God's beauty in Islam. Finally, it discusses Karl Barth's interest in God's beauty as this characteristic of God expresses how God is attractive for human beings.
