In the second half of Luke (Acts of the Apostles) we are told that the ascension took place forty days after the resurrection, and in the first half (Gospel of Luke) we are told that it took place at Bethany, a small village just outside of Jerusalem. In the last words Jesus speaks to his followers he connects his ascension back to his death and resurrection. He also connects the mission of the church, in bringing the message of forgiveness to the world and the giving of the Spirit at Pentecost, to his death and resurrection. | ||
