520 | |a 3,617 male, employed, Protestant clergymen were studied in order to explore whether and how clergymen of various occupational specialties are differentiated on the basis of vocational interests. Respondents are classified into 10 occupational subgroups by means of a biographical questionnaire. Occupational subgroups are compared on the basis of scores on 10 role scales of the Inventory of Religious Activities and Interests, both by profile comparison and discriminant function analysis procedures. Findings indicate, by both analytic procedures, that subgroups of clergymen classified in this manner can be differentiated on the basis of interest in performing activities associated with 10 roles. Twenty-two of 45 possible pairs of specialty groups are significantly differentiated in respect to profile shape. Seven dimensions which best describe interests contrasted therein are reported. | ||
