This particular characteristic has led scholars to interpret it in the light of the crisis that Paul was experiencing with the communities of Galatia. For this reason, Paul would have omitted the rhetorical elements of the exordium and, impatient to get to the heart of the problem, would have directly accused the "agitators" of wanting to misrepresent the Gospel of Christ. The purpose of this article is to demonstrate that instead this exordium has a well-defined and thought-out argumentative purpose. Paul reacts to the dramatic situation that the Galatians are experiencing, by putting the Gospel of God and its consequences for believers at the center of the discussion. At the same time, he provides very important keys for understanding the various developments within the epistle. | ||
