總結:To discourage his readers from turning to the law, Paul uses an allegory in Gal 4,21-31 based on characteristics that Abraham's first two sons, Ishmael and Isaac, share with the people under the law and the people of the Abrahamic promise, respectively. Paul draws from the correspondences between the sons and their present-day counterparts a correspondence in destiny: the people under the law, like Ishmael, are cast out of Abraham's house; and the people of promise, like Isaac, inherit it. As one cannot both be expelled and inherit, one cannot live under both covenants.
