Zusammenfassung: | This article shows that American Evangelicals in general, and Billy Graham in particular, contributed to a transatlantic rapprochement in the period 1946-1986. The emergence of a structural Evangelical transatlantic cooperation was most successful in European countries that shared the revival traditions of American and British Evangelicals. Simultaneously, American Evangelism efforts caused new divisions in countries with strong secular or Catholic traditions. While American Evangelicals underestimated the power of the horizontal church organization in Europe, they succeeded in bringing the fragile Evangelical communities in Europe into transatlantic and global networks. |
