| Summary: | This study examines the ideas on liturgy and liturgical education present in the Pastoral Letter on Liturgical Education (Lent 1958) which G. B. Montini, Archbishop of Milan, wrote for his faithful. After considering the origins of the future Paul VI's liturgical interest, as well as the liturgical education proposed to the youth of FUCI, the article outlines the two souls of Montini present in the pastoral letter being considered: the first one reconsiders liturgy and liturgical education in light of Mediator Dei and of the primacy he gives to explanation, and the second anticipates his reflection and contemporary praxis.
