RT Book T1 I am large, I contain multitudes: lyric cohesion and conflict in Second Isaiah T2 Biblical interpretation series JF Biblical interpretation series A2 Heffelfinger, Katie M. LA English PP Leiden Boston PB Brill YR 2011 UL https://ixtheo.de/Record/1655005197 AB This thesis takes a lyric poetic approach by examining the series of poems on the homecoming to Zion as an element of comfort of the message of Second Isaiah. The practical application of this approach shows Second Isaiah to be characterized by tension, conflict, and juxtaposition as he addresses his audience with searing indictments in the 'book of comfort.' The return from exile is seen as a journey embedded within Israel's relationship with Yhwh, with Yhwh wavering between indignation and compassion, and finally deciding in favor of that relationship. This book highlights the tonalities of the divine voice as central to Second Isaiah's poetic mode of cohesion and essential to the conflicted comfort offered Zion OP 328 NO "This project is a revision of my Emory University doctoral dissertation"--Preface. - Includes bibliographical references and indexes. - Description based on print version record CN BS1520 SN 978-90-04-19444-1 SN 90-04-19444-4 K1 Bible : Criticism, interpretation, etc K1 Bible : Language, style K1 Bible : Isaiah, XL-LV : Language, style K1 Bible : Isaiah, XL-LV : Criticism, interpretation, etc K1 Bible K1 Hebrew poetry, Biblical K1 Bible.
