Summary:The article recalls the ecclesial value of consecrated life as being the accurrence and manifestation of an evangelical life lived in the context of fraternal communion; it ensues by illustrating the relationship between bishops and institutes of consecrated life, in respect to the requirements of, on one hand, their depending on the hierarchy and, on the other hand, of having a proper autonomy which every institute should enjoy. It then continues to deal with some concrete aspects, offering practical examples: the agreement between the diocesan bishop and the religious superior for the diocesan works of apostolate; the case of parishes entrusted to a religious institute; the iter for the constitution of a new institute of consecrated life. In the appendix the specimen outline for the entrusting of parishes to the religious is included together with the required documents for consultation by the Holy See, in view of the constitution of a new institute.
