Summary: | The author examines the importance of the "fama sanctitatis" the reputation of sancity in the whole of the Causes of Beatification and Canonization. Since ancient times this fame -of virtues or martyrdom and extraordinary signs - with the characteristics of spontaneous, uprovoked ad extended in an good part of the people of God, has been considered by the doctrine and canonical law as the real driving force thats ets in motion the machinery of the Causes of Saints, and without, properly tested, it should not start. The article explains how the recent Instruction from the Congregation for the Causes of saints, Sanctorum Mater (2008), reminds strongly the importance of the "fama", detailing how it must be treated by the Postulator, the diocesan Bishop and the Tribunal in the diocesan phase of the Process |
