It includes a discussion of the textual character of the scroll, distinguishes between unintentional variants including morphology and synonymous reading, and intentional changes such as exegetical corrections and harmonizations. The focus of this article is on the last category, because from the point of view of the textual character of 4QDeutn, it belongs to a group of texts named 'Harmonistic text' (previously called 'Proto-Samaritan text'). The main phenomenon of these texts is the harmonization found in them. These texts were divided into three groups: I. Biblical scrolls, such as 4QPaleoExodm; II. Biblical texts with apocryphal additions, such as 4QTestimonia; and III. Tefillin and Mezuzot found in Qumran. The Nash Papyrus was added to the group of Harmonistic texts, since it includes a text of the Decalogue taken from Deuteronomy, and a number of harmonizations based on the parallel text of Exodus. It is suggested that 4QDeutn was used for liturgical purposes. | ||
