Heider has once again defended the position that the term represents a deity in all uses, presenting an expanded extra-biblical textual data base in his support. This article critiques his presentation, argumentation, and conclusions, and suggests that mlk had a more complex history of use than has been previously recognized, which may have embraced both meanings currently espoused, that of child sacrifice and that of deity name/epithet. |
