| Summary: | The translation and interpretation of Am 9:9 has been under debate for more than a century. The most common solution, JHWH threshing Israel like corn in a sieve, has found support by many scholars, e.g. Hans Walter Wolff, Jörg Jeremias, among others. Yet, criticism has never ceazed completely. The current study seeks to present an alternative solution, based upon close scrutiny of MT, along with talmudic parallels. Die Übersetzung und Interpretation von Am 9,9 ist seit mehr als einem Jahrhundert umstritten. Die übliche Lösung, derzufolge JHWH Israel siebt wie Korn auf der Tenne, hat breite Unterstützung gefunden, unter anderem von Hans Walter Wolff und Jörg Jeremias. Kritische Stimmen verstummten jedoch nie vollständig. Die vorliegende Studie präsentiert eine alternative Lösung. Hierzu wird MT einer (erneuten) intensiven Untersuchung unterzogen; zudem werden talmudische Parallelen berücksichtigt. |
