| Summary: | The study deals with the beginnings of the literary development of Num 16-17. Within these chapters, the earliest literary layer is represented by the post-priestly narrative of Datan’s and Abiram’s rebellion against Moses (16:12-14ab*, 25a, 27b, 32a, 33abα, 34). A later hand shaped the punishment of the two rebels as an ordeal (16:1b*, 2aα, 15, 25b, 28-31). It is the latter motif that establishes the basis for the supplementation of the text with the narrative of the 250 lay people. These propagate the ideal of a theocracy without priests and are proven wrong in a sacrificial contest (16:2aβ[b], 3, 4, 5a*, 6abα, 7a*, 14b*, 18, 26, 33bβ, 35; 17:11*, 12aαb, 15a). Gegenstand der Studie sind die Anfänge der literarischen Genese von Num 16-17. Den literarischen Grundbestand der Kapitel bildet die nachpriesterschriftliche Erzählung vom Aufstand Datans und Abirams gegen Mose (16,12-14ab*.25a.27b.32a.33abα.34). Die Bestrafung der beiden Aufrührer wird von späterer Hand als Gottesurteil stilisiert (16,1b*.2aα.15.25b.28-31). Letzteres Motiv bildet die Basis für die Erweiterung des Textes um die Erzählung von den 250 Laien, die das Ideal einer priesterlosen Theokratie propagieren und in einer Opferprobe ihres Irrtums überführt werden (16,2aβ[b].3.4.5a*.6abα.7a*. 14b*.18.26.33bβ.35; 17,11*.12aαb.15a). |
