Description
Summary:In his article the author votes for a re-reading of Western concepts of soteriology. In contrast to the Anselmian heritage he emphasizes the precious line of thought developed by Abaelard. To strengthen this alternative tradition a concept of forgiveness and a gift is presented - alongside the subtle analyses of Jacques Derrida - that allow for fresh look at the soteriological impact of the cross. Thus, the cross is God's ultimate sign of forgiveness for the unforgivable. Following Girard and Schwager the notion of forgiveness is sounterbalanced by an understanding of sin as violence (in its cosmological dimensions).
