AB Looking at the term „transcendental revelation“ exemplifies a methodological shift in Rahner-studies that appreciates the contextual nature of Rahner's work which tries to answer to newly arising questions and challenges. The term appears in 1963 in the context of Rahner's move to the philosophical faculty in Munich. This essay traces the roots of the term in the "supernatural existential" and looks at the way it integrates several new challenges arising from Vatican II.
