Description
Summary:To revisit the theology underlying Bernanos' work as a novelist, the author took as a lead the presence of a murder, or at least a news item, in each of his books. What is the sense of this? One says: a sense of redemption, by the identification of the slain innocent with Christ. This theme indeed exists. Yet on the one hand there is an evolution during the course of which charity tends to replace the sacrificial aspect as a salutary force, on the other hand there are cases where something else is at work: the compassion of the author and the reader for the victim, announcing the compassion of God.
