Описание
Итог:The letter to the duchess of Bar, the sister of Henry IV, was written to support her when she was tempted to convert to Catholicism, but it is also addressed to all coreligionists and to posterity. Using a hybrid form, d'Aubigné mixes different literary genres, from a letter to a theological treatise, from a historical testimony to a page of historiography for the princess, and he appeals to several senses in order to influence the wider readership. Since he dealt with both a personal and an exceptional situation, in comparison with contemporary writings this friend of Catherine de Bourbon originally engages in an essential struggle of his time.
