Comparative philology, religious sciences and Romantic philosophy prepared the ground and defined the guiding themes of this form of monism, which appeared carefully disguised in traditions borrowed from the East. This neo-gnosticism, which has gradually come to represent a new cultural paradigm, is one of the major challenges to Christianity at this millenium's beginning. |
