AB Mousa Mohammed Abu Marzook, the political leader of the Hamas, has been imprisoned in the U.S. since July 1995. Israel has requested to extradite him in order to tie him to acts of violence which were carried out by the military wing of Hamas. The article consists of several interviews Roger Gaess conducted with Abu Marzook on the following issues: the circumstances of his arrest and his opinion on the U.S.'s motivation to arrest him, his involvement in the military wing of Hamas and his opinion on violence as a means to achieve political goals, Hamas's political goals and its reasons to reject the Oslo accords, Arafat's leadership, the Western misconceptions of Islam and the Arab countries.
