AB This paper takes the sociological issue of the relationship between individual and society and expresses it through the notion of moral-somatic relationships focused on the theme of wellbeing and justice. In practical terms it is concerned with abuse of power by guardians of social values such as doctors. Theoretically, it explores the issue of merit, and introduces the notion of the "humility response" as expressions of positive outcomes of social recognition before considering negative outcomes in what is described as forms of "embodied anomie". Finally, it pinpoints the notion of superplausibility, as another expression of wellbeing and closely related to the issue of hope as a key sociological factor.
