Both atheism and a 'Nietzschean theodicy' make the same prediction: the world will appear to contain gratuitous evil. Thus, observation of apparently gratuitous evil is not evidence for or against either hypothesis. In the absence of any other evidence for or against theism, the most reasonable position is agnosticism.
