Il documento, scoperto recentemente, rispecchia la sensibilita del giovane Bosco, i gusti dei suoi uditori e le pratiche della religiosita popolare di quel preciso momento storico. Il discorso e articolato su tre piani che s’intersecano: quello narrativo, quello polemico-apologetico e quello morale-applicativo. Il primo consiste nel racconto drammatizzato della feconda predicazione e della passione del santo. Il secondo intende dimostrare l’origine divina della Chiesa cattolica. Il terzo e mirato alla mozione degli affetti, per incoraggiare gli uditori a trarre profitto dalla predicazione e corrispondere alla grazia di essere nati nella religione cattolica. | ||
| 520 | |a The critical edition and translation of the unpublished address in Piemontese by Giovanni Bosco seminarian, given at Castelnuovo in the Confraternity Church, on the occasion of the feast of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle in 1838. The occasion is documented in the minutes of the ordinary canonical process by two witnesses, Giovanni Filippello and Giuseppe Turco. The document, recently discovered, reflects the sensitivities of the young man Bosco, the tastes of his listeners and the expression of popular religious devotion at that particular historical moment. The address is constructcd on three interconnected levels: the narrative, the polemical-apologetical and the moral-exhortative. The first consists of a lively account of the effective preaching and the death of the saint. The second sets out to show the divine origin of the Catholic Church. The third is aimed at arousing the emotions, encouraging the listeners to draw profit from the sermon and to respond to the grace of being born in the Catholic faith. | ||
