| LOK | |0 938 |l Abstract: The article contrasts the views of M. Eliade and R. Girard on violence. Eliade's work is construed as a knot that must be untied, which is congruent with his concept of the Labyrinth and the symbolism of the knot and the sacred as hidden. The method of analysis is thus derived from an important symbol of human destiny. Eliade deciphers man's destiny as a response to the terror of history where humans create their world of being. For Girard, however, humans caught by the webs of mimetic rivalry create an organized set of relationships from a ritual sacrifice thereby choosing a human order.
