Das bedeutete eine große Herausforderung hinsichtlich Unterbringung, Nahrungsmittel, medizinische Versorgung und Tagesaktivitäten, bis die Regierung über den Asylstatus entscheiden würde. Die Hilfe Freiwilliger war in den ersten Wochen nicht wegzudenken. Dieser Artikel beschreibt medizinische Hilfestellungen der Gesundheitsbehörde der Stadt Frankfurt, eine der großen Städte Deutschlands, zur Versorgung der Flüchtlinge. Innerhalb von zwei bis drei Wochen wurde die komplette Gesundheitsversorgung aufgestellt, wobei die Stadt Frankfurt alle Kosten vorschoss, deren Übernahme von der Bundesregierung zugesagt wurde. Nicht alle Städte in Deutschland waren in der Lage, diesen Betrag aufzubringen. Dies war eines der größten Probleme der Erstversorgung der schutzsuchenden Menschen. Obwohl die Flüchtlingszahl in Frankfurt 5.000 niemals überstieg, waren rund um die Uhr fast 90 Ärzte notwendig, um die Versorgung sicherzustellen. Die gestellten Diagnosen unterschieden sich nicht von denen der deutschen Restbevölkerung. | ||
| 520 | |a When the German government opened the borders for humanitarian reasons in a very short time (month) towards the end of 2015, several hundred thousand refugees entered the country. Especially at the beginning, none of the cities were prepared for this amount of people. This included room to stay, food, medical care and daily activity until the government would/could decide about an asylum status. Help from volunteers was indispensable in the first few weeks. The article describes the needed medical activity of the health protection authority of the city of Frankfurt, one of the major cities in Germany, to take care of the refugees. In about two or three weeks, complete medical care was set up, while the city of Frankfurt prepayed all the necessities, because all the expenses for the refugees were guaranteed by the government. Not every German city was able to pay this amount of money in advance. This was one of the major problems in the issue of taking care of refugees. Eventhough the number of refugees in Frankfurt never exceeded 5.000, it took approx. 90 doctors around the clock to take care of them.
