| LOK | |0 938 |l Abstract: The christology of Paul Tillich continues the classical doctrine of expiation, although its main accent is the ontological emergence of the new man in Christ, without special consideration for the battle between justice and love in God himself. The modernity of this christology lies in its "rising up" of life from the depth of the acceptance of death. On the contrary, the Jesusology of René Girard is a violent protest against any kind of expiation as a return to a pagan view of God's divine hunger for human suffering. The death of Christ is the result of human evil, but never an event in which God could be implicated. The successful presentation of René Girard does not answer two questions: 1) without expiation, the death of Christ is in danger of becoming just a pathetic call to the imitation of the non-violence of Jesus; 2) the true meaning of sacrifice seems restricted to the necessity of payment without the liberty of a total gift. (In: Religion Index) Abstract: La question du christianisme non sacrificiel est devenue un theme central, à partir en particulier des attaques de René Girard et aussi de Jacques Pohier. Nos contemporains repugnent à l'idée, mercantile et parfois doloriste, d'un Dieu qui aurait besoin du sang de son Fils pour apaiser sa colere et delivrer son amour. Mais les nouveaux theoriciens du Christianisme non sacrificiel aboutissent souvent à une ideologie de Jesus Christ, exemple absolu d'une non-violence inconditionelle. Alors l'imitation morale et sociale de la conduite des Jesus risque de remplacer la foi dans l'intervention decisive de Dieu en Jesus Christ. L'A. examine les nouvelles theses et les objections a leur apporter, en tenant particulierement compte de la christologie de Tillich, si sensible au contexte de la moderniste intellectuelle et pourtant si robuste dans son classicisme.
